Elementary Admission Process
Is Smaller Scholars Montessori Academy the right fit for your elementary child?
ONLINE INQUIRY FORM
We welcome your interest in Smaller Scholars Montessori Academy Elementary program. Your first step should be to complete our contact form or contact the school. Once we have your contact information, we can add you to our invitation list for our Open House in October or schedule a parent tour.
At our November Open House, you can meet parents, faculty, and head of school, and see for yourself what makes our school such an extraordinary place.
A tour of the school is required for all parents. Tours are scheduled between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. (by appointment only). Optional: Parents may also schedule a half hour classroom observation.
CHILD’S VISIT & INTERVIEW
After the parent’s visit, a child’s visit is scheduled. The child will receive a tour of the school and have a short interview with the Elementary Director. The Director may schedule a classroom visit for the student lasting a half hour or more.
Complete the application form and submit a non-refundable application fee of $150 (there is a discount for additional children applying to Smaller Scholars). You can apply online or get a paper application at the front desk in the elementary building. Applications submitted are not a guarantee of acceptance.
Submit the Teacher Recommendation/Records Release form to your child’s current school requesting transcripts, medical records, and any standardized testing available. Copies of transcripts and standardized tests from the past two years and the current year are required for students applying to grades 2-6. *Files from Smaller Scholars’ graduating Kindergarteners will automatically be transferred.
TEACHER REPORT FORM
Submit the confidential Teacher Recommendation/Records Release form to your child’s current teacher and ask that they return the form directly to Smaller Scholars Montessori Academy. Forms may be mailed, faxed, or emailed to the Elementary Director. Forms returned from parents will not be accepted. *Not required for Smaller Scholars’ graduating Kindergarteners.
The Director will notify applicants in writing either by mail or email within two weeks of the above steps being completed. Fall applicants will be notified in March. Notifications may either be acceptance, denial, or placed on the wait-list. Applicants without all paperwork and fees turned in, will not be considered for acceptance.
After the acceptance letter is received, come pick up the New Student Enrollment Packet at the front desk in Elementary and schedule your new parent orientation to go over school policies. The incoming student will visit a classroom during this meeting. Finally plan to attend Back to School Night in August (date tbd) from 6:30-8:00. Incoming fall students will receive a welcome note and their classroom/teacher assignments in late July. We do NOT accept any teacher requests or place siblings in the same classroom.
